I think it's a miracle that Tyler and Destiny were not killed with or without a seatbelt . I live 1 block from this accident and heard the impact- and I believe that it is a blessing these two young people are alive. I agree that the only thing that really matters is that these kids survived. I am fairly certain that they have learned the value of wearing or not wearing a seat belt.

Where are all the praise the lords and well wishers-seems like the usual folks are out on their soapboxes. . . . again. It's too bad that there aren't more optimistic folks writing on these blogs; it gets really old reading the same ole' stuff from the same ole' people.

Praise the lord that these kids were blessed with more time on this earth.

REGARDING:
"why doesn’t everyone just calm down"
AND
"life isnt about the what ifs, its about what happens"

Everyone's calm.

There's nothing we can do to help those in this wreck but to wish them well and pray for them.

We simply realize there will be more wrecks in the future and are discussing how to best reduce fatalities and injuries in those events. Life really IS about the "what ifs". If you consider all that might reasonably be expected to happen and prepare for the worst of it, life can be lived without the worst happening to you or those you love.

its not about if they were wearin seatbelts or not, its about how they are doin, the truck driver, destiny, and tyler, it could of been worse, but life isnt about the what ifs, its about what happens. just like i said on one of my last posts as bestfriend, SEATBELTS DONT ALWAYS SAVE LIVES. My dad rolled his 18 wheeler at the split of muscogee an jacks branch, if he would of been wearin the seat belt he would of died, and in tylers and destinys case they could of died, if you want to base it on what if, then what if they were wearing there seatbelts knocked unconcious and the truck caught fire with them in there ? i pray for a good recovery, i dont know tyler but destiny is my bestfriend. and i hope she is doinn okay, neither of themm deserved this, and im sure he was a good person just like she is,

I do agree seatbelts save lives. I wear mine as everyone should. I was merely stating that in my opinion with the amount of damage to the drivers area, ie the seat was almost touching the steering wheel, that in my opinion the driver would not have survived if he had stayed in his seat. What so amazing is there was a foot long gash in the gas tank and gas was pouring out. How there was no fire I have no idea. But tgere wasnt. My heart goes out to the family and friends.

@Jeff
In your opinion the driver would've lost his life if wearing a seatbelt. Look at the statistics an I can assure you I work this on a daily basis an if he would've been wearing his seatbelt both of them would've never been ejected an sustained less injuries than what they have now. The seatbelts are there for a reason to wear them. In more cases than not they save lives

REGARDING:
“But in my opinion if the driver had been wearing his he most definitely would have lost his life."

Just out of curiosity, based on what?

Was the door caved in enough to encroach on where he was sitting?

His body would have already taken the full impact of the collision ere being launched out the door, throwing her out too. Unless the door would have crushed him, he would just have additional injuries from being struck by her, by shoving her as they were flung out and from whatever he hit outside the vehicle, possibly including the passenger side door.

while looking at photos
and hoping they recover

I worked this accident. Towed the pickup away. I world say on the ejection that both went thru the passenger door from my judgement. I looked the truck over after I towed it and both seatbelts were hanging where they normally do. They were not used. But in my opinion if the driver had been wearing his he most definitly would have lost his life. This call broke my heart and I pray both survive and recover.
