The Solutia days were in no way the good ole days. Working at a chemical plant ran by lawyers was not fun. S&K Partners is a group of investors who have come from the chemical and other industries and understands the business.

We are currently producing and selling more pounds than ever before. We are even converting and/or selling side streams, once considered waste. If you are willing to work hard, learn new skills and contribute, please apply. If you just want to show up, put in your time and get a paycheck, do us all a favor and stay home. The days of showing up and having your co-workers carry you are long gone.

Ascend is also a privately owned company. There is no public stocks available to local investors like it was with Monsanto and Solutia. If there were stocks open to the public that by itself would help boolster the local economy. Several hundred million shares of stock were traded daily when Solutia was at it’s peak. There is no connection to Solutia or Monsanto anymore. S & K partners is the primary owners made up of private investors. Once the investors make what money they need, they will dump this place like 2 day old fish.

As a private company Ascend is obligated to disclose any of their business practices to the public.

There are some great folks that work at the Ascend plant. Although I’m no longer employed there I still think of some of them as family. I’ll run into someone from there on occasion and we will talk about the good old days of Monanto and Solutia.
