It certainly should have been dealt with as this does not look so good
for our ability to do this at our ship yard. The owner of this ship is
probably not very happy right now with pensacola. Somebody has
to pay for this mess, to clean it up, repair it, and I guess we pay for
the firefighters.

I hope our fire fighters who were injured are fine this morning and will be
fit to work again..

Spent the first 27 years of my life around that shipyard. I can tell u from experience its NOT because the safety protocol's arent up to date and in place. It's because somebody didn't follow them. And I can also tell u from experience, It's been dealt with.

This fire is probably due to someone taking shortcuts in safety while welding. Shipyard work is a dangerous business with all of the cutting and welding that goes on. Vessels are full of flammable hazards from fuel and lube oil storage tanks, engine spaces, to storerooms full of supplies. It is imperative that good house keeping and safe hot work practices are to be strictly followed in the effort to prevent shipboard fires like this one.
