I have never met any of your family, but I am the mother of a soldier serving in his 4th tour of Iraq. I can’t imagine the pain and sense of loss you must be feeling, but you have a lifetime of memories of Travis, and you will cherish them, and relive them as they come. The tears will come for a long time, but eventually they will subside, and your inner strength will take hold, and guide you through this very difficult time, which is ‘every parent’s worst nightmare’. From everything I’ve read about Travis, he sounds like he was a ‘really good son’, who from an early age had a strong sense of who he wanted to be, and that I attribute to good parenting. May God bless all of you. My thoughts and prayers are with you…

I coached Travis in both baseball and football, a few years ago. He and my little brother were the best of friends for quite some time. I always knew he would be the very best at whatever he set his mind to. He was a remarkable young man who grew to be an outstanding adult and example for this country.

Freedom is, indeed, not free. It is perishable and must be earned. Our small community has lost a great person, but has gained an everlasting inspiration. Travis’ life should be celebrated. He is a hero and will impact us all for many years to come.

I am proud to say that I knew him and I can only hope I had a positive impact on his life.

Beckie and Scott, you are wonderful parents and I will be forever grateful to you for allowing me to be a part of Travis’ life.

Plans call for the remains to arrive at Pensacola NAS at 2 p.m. Wednesday. This is a private event. Persons can line the roadway along New Warrington Road *outside* NAS.

The exact route to Atmore has not yet been announced.

We encourage *everyone* that is not attending the funeral to line Main Street in Atmore from the First Baptist Church to Oak Hill Cemetery on Friday.
