They are spread thin. This is not the Florida Highway Patrol of thirty or forty years ago. The current Governor is talking about doing away with the FHP, as well as other state law enforcement agencies, in an attempt to rein in the state budget. The trade-off is the individual counties Sheriffs Departments will have to take up the slack, resulting in higher taxes on the local level. Be careful out there. A family member trooper has the weekend off therefore no increased presence. Saw them on 29 where's the rest. How bout maybe spread throughout the rest of the state. Do you really think a trucker based out of California or any other state has a "friend in high places" in Escambia County Florida? Com'on folks. Get real. They also were again planted at the bait shop like we all don't know they do that. They also were planted somewhere on the back road close to the funeral parlor, like we don't know they do that. I guess the only ones they are after are the out of towners. The people here that keep trying to run everyone else off the road, crossing double lines, drinking going down the road are our own nice truckers and I guess they won't write THEM TICKETS. Some of them must know ppl in high places and that's why THEY are ABOVE THE LAW. I believe the sheriff want's things done, I believe our officers themselves are just "good ole boys".
