Sam is right. The meeting is only a formality. The commissioners can raise the MSBU at any time. Just be glad it’s not going to be the $377 the City of Pensacola charges. We get better coverage. The city gets one big call like a house fire and they loose most if not all of their coverage. I think we’re fortunate.

“Concerned Citizen”, while Century did not have any firemen or engines there, you are right that Flomaton and McDavid did. But don’t forget about Walnut Hill. They had a tanker and a half dozen or more firemen, plus a crew on standby back at their station to catch other calls for them and Century.

If the COLA allowances for those on fixed incomes do not ever go up, but everything else does, what are those on fixed incomes going to do? There haven’t been any increased in COLA in the last three years. Is there any fairness in government anymore?

I support the firefighters 100% but…..We are taxed on everything we do and buy. The list is exhaustive. I would like to see our county commissioners work to reduce taxes instead of raising taxes. They know we care about our firemen so they use our love to take more of our money. There are people really suffering in this economy who do not need the additional worry and burden about how our county will take our money next. I do not support this tax increase.

i think the firefighters should be paid in the same manner as the Law Enforcment Officers because they put their life on the line every day but i do not agree they should be paid unless they are called. Every person travelling the highway whether it’s local or out-of-state people get the services so there should be a code put out so the firemean could respond IF NEEDED. We are taxes to death on property taxes and insurance companies include the fire department in their policies. Insurance companies are pulling out of state every day and we are hit with HUGE policy premiums. WE CAN’T STAND MUCH MORE TO BE TACKED ON OUR PROPERTY. This is supposed to be put on property that HAS NO DWELLINGS ON IT. Let’s all go to the meeting and protest and write letters to that effect BEFORE IT IS CRAMMED DOWN OUR THROAT. The Fire Dept.s need to be paid but PUT THEIR ALLOCATION IN THE BUDGET LIKE THE SHERIFF’S IS CALCULATED.

to medical calls, with as many people who call for ambulances on a daily basis, firetrucks often First respond, often that firetruck has a medic on board, and often
when the medical call is someone on the ground, unkn if breathing, that firetruck CAN AND WILL…
administer life saving care until the ambulance arrives, and then a firefighter will ride in the ambulance to assist the paramedic on the way to the hospital….just
wondering if it was your loved one laying on the ground, drug addict or not, if you would not be thankful that those resorces…NEVER A WASTE, when helping save a life……….just sayin

When lightning started a fire a few years ago I was amazed at how quickly they responded and how fast the fire was put out. These guys risk their lives to save ours and our property…they deserve anything we can give them! You can not put a price on that.

Ever notice a huge fire truck will show up at even an Asama attack , even though a well equipped ambulance with two paramedics are already on scene?

watched two huge fire trucks and and ambulance rush to a Hardies just because some drug attack had passed out on the floor last year. such a waste of resources.

Those firefighters put everything on the line to help us out. It wont hurt us to pay alittle more to make sure they have the right equipment and personal. So before you complain about the extra money think about all the times firefighter respond to calls late it night, in a bad storm, or in the extreme heat. Also think what they do to help this county. One day it may be you calling for help!

Robin, You asked what Pensacola Beach and The City Pays………………
I know that the Beach (SRIA) Residents pay $201 per year.
The best I can find in internet searchs is that the city pays somewhere around 300 or more. AND these fees are for Fire only, Not like other places where fire is in with other services. These are for Fire Protection Only!
