Bank robberies take place in banks.
Domestic disputes take place in domiciles or with family involvement.
Speeding type crimes take place on major highways, not on 4th street.
Job related crimes take place on the job.

Drug crimes often take place on side roads such as this. Also there is the fact that other drug related crimes have already taken place near this spot in the past. People tend to see patterns.

And then, as you pointed out, there’s the fact that it took place in Century. What kinds of crimes are most commonly reported in Century?

Or consider shootings from one car to another, most reports of such involve drug related activity–often two dealers/gangs fighting over territory.

It’s possible the whole thing sprang from a theological dispute which got out of hand but not especially probable.

It could have been love related. Jealousy is a powerful motivator, but this seems an unlikely spot to have such a dispute over love. Further, usually jealous people don’t travel in packs or shoot both parties.
