On or about September 1962 Jimmy Pueitt 14 years old was hit by an auto at this same location and died in a local hospital. He was a close friend of mine. No charges were filed.

@outraged citizen All depends on who you know, I guess that’s what they call the
“good ole boy” connection.

As for everything being katrina people, seems to me most of the
articles in this paper are about homegrown boys. When every calls things
mistakes and police look the other way, children tend to never grow up
and their crimes just get larger.

On 12/27/2010, the same thing happened to my house. A drunk driver crashed through the front room, was obviously intoxicated, and left the scene of the accident. However, in my situation the Florida Highway Patrol actually let the driver go. I had to argue with the highway patrol officer on the scene and call the HQ in Tallahassee just to get him to charge him with leaving the scene of an accident. I became aware that the driver was in my neighborhood to visit a friend who was a part-time officer with the Pensacola PD. I guess you have to know the right people to get away a crime like this. After continued calls and a few calls to local attorneys to consider sueing the highway patrol, a higher ranking officer came to my house saying he’d investigate the situation and never called back. I would like to know what was different and why they can charge this guy but couldn’t charge the guy that hit my house. Seems like major subjectivity on the part of the police department.

yep I remember Herringtons grocery too.Seems like forever then seems like it was a repair for office equipment after Herringtons.

More and more trash is finding its way across 9 mile into our neighborhood. I fear for the safety of my wife and 2 teenage girls, one of them is driving now. Things have gone from not too bad to really bad since all of the Katrina refugees came to town. Not saying they are all bad, but some trash did follow them. I have to wonder if this fellow was one of them or if he’s home grown garbage. Dang glad that no one was hurt and I hope the good fellows’ home can be repaired.

The drunk uninjured of course … Look how many ppl he could have killed … I’m sure he will get a lawyer to get him off … Make sure his rights are not violated .. And then back on the street …

@ Paul..most likely even though 2nd time..& no1 was KILLED..he will probably get probation!!! Oh & 10 days madatory but he can also do “house arrest” if the judge oks it…I’m paying for my 3rd DUI & all I got was 45 days..30 days is mandatory..I just didnt get bailed out..1 yrs probation(which on my 2nd I got Community Control”) LOTZ OF FINES!!!! YES I have learned MY lesson..havent drank or drove since the end of 05..did lose my DL for 10 yrs(it’s 5 yrs for 2 DUIs) I do hope he had insurance cause if I was the people that he hit I would sue the hell out him!!!
