This should not be a government run program.
Let free enterprise work.
When the government runs programs, it puts other small businesses out or work, they cannot compete with the government.
Now watch some individual see an opportunity to start a business.
Happens every time.
People care more about animals than human beings.

I think the animal shelters were go. Where I live people come out here and drop off their pets. That has been pretty recent. People who get pets and haul them off and if they are found they should be fined.

“Rat them out” to who?? Is it against the law to feed stray animals? I’ve never read that law. I’ve never heard of anyone getting arrested for feeding a stray animal. So who would you “rat them out” to? Our working citizens are being taxed to death as it is to feed the other citizens (and some who are not) who are too sorry to work for their own living. Asking them to feed everyone’s unwanted animals is a lot, even though many (most) of them would rather see their tax dollars feed a stray dog than a stray crackhead. Maybe we should take all the tax money being paid to welfare recipients and build animal shelters. There’s just so much blood you can squeeze from a turnip, there Jane; and our turnips are just about squeezed dry. I work hard and barely make enough to feed my family and my dog. Asking me to feed yours is asking too much. Our government FORCING me to feed yours is almost tyrannical.

Not sure why Jane would even make the comment about not ratting out kind hearted people feeding strays. I. for one, feed four to five cats where I work because I can’t watch an animal starve; not to mention the rat problem being conrtrolled by them. Someone wants to rat me out– so be it! There is no welfare progrom for our four legged freinds. If I can afford the food, I’ll feed them.

When did it become my (the government) job to take care of stray animals?
Old people won’t lose medicare if they are currently under 55 y/o.
SSi is not an old people safety net, it’s for people who don’t qualify for SS.
Last point, since it (medicare) may not be there when you (readers in general) are elderly, what are you doing now to prepare?

So this is why we are finding more “lost’ animals out here. I have seen stores feeding some strays…and NO I will NOT rat them out! They are doing what our government won’t do! And guess what, pretty soon the old people who have lost medicare and SSi will be homeless too (except for the ones of us who have been killed off because we can’t afford health insurance). Welcome to America, third world country!

The decline of civilization, what went wrong with Atmore?, In the 50s and 60s it was a great place to live, something crept in, poor animals.
