For Concerned,
Please note all roads listed are state roads, funded by state dollars. County road paving and maintenance are county funded.

First, this is not maintenance money; it is resurfacing money. They are two distinctly different pots within FDOT.

Second, for "huh", there are three resurfacing projects listed here, and all three of them are considered by FDOT as "deficient". By resurfacing now, we save ourselves the added expense of reconstructing these roadways later, which would be significantly more costly and time consuming.

Third, for "concerned", there are not worse state-owned roads that can be resurfaced in Escambia or Santa Rosa Counties. According to the latest FDOT pavement ratings, there are 30 'deficient' roadway sections in Escambia. The US 29 and US 90 projects correct 11 of those 30 sections. Of 15 'deficient' roadway sections in Santa Rosa, all 15 are scheduled to be resurfaced within the next 4 years, including the above-mentioned SR 89. Greenwood Road is not a state roadway, and is not eligible for these funds.

For "huh"
This is maintence money.
The federal money for the high speed rail was money to build it from scratch.
Then all expenses to maintain and hire employees after the initial build would be on Florida taxpayers forever more.

For William, No Misprint. There's more than one roadway in Santa Rosa Co. labeled CR 184. Try Nichols Lake / Hickory Hammok Rd, just north of Yellow River on SR 87 south and where the current 2 lanes transition to 4 lanes. FDOT's future plans will 4 lane this existing 2 lane section.

There's 4 or more CR 191's, 5 or 6 CR 399's, several CR 197's. Get a good county map.

I can think of far worse roads that need to be resurfaced than some of these. Maybe like Greenwood Road instead of part of Hwy 89. You can't pass a car on that road without hitting a pot hole. It is very unsafe. Maybe they should spend some money on keeping people from having wrecks.

>>Highway 87 does not intersect Quintette road. This must be a misprint

I'm not sure here. In the budget, it says (an exact quote) "SR 87 from 2 Mi S Yellow River to CR 184" I had looked up CR 184, and it was listed as Quintette. That's why I had Quintette in the story.

Your comment prompted me to look a the map harder. Looks like CR 184-A (Berryhill Road) runs all the way to Hwy 87.

It might be a misprint in the state budget?? I'm going to ask someone in Santa Rosa county government and post back.

Doesn't really make any sense, her turned down a billion dollars for high speed rail for jobs. Everyone applauded him claiming it was spending money that the usa didnt have

If thats the case, why not be consistent and not do any of these projects? And save the state money
