Joe it is common knowledge that most shitzhund (protection) dogs are trained to the command out (usually spoken in german,"ous") to release a bite hold.

I was not being technical just saying in very lay terms that the dog won't let go if you shake and yell and try to break free. I am not law enforcement but now all of us reading this know the command they use to get the dog to release is "out"

Correction Joe. They are trained to continue the bite/hold until commanded to "out" by the handler.

>>the article said he was charged with resisting arrest with out violance. How can that be? He struck a police officer twice in the face.

My guess is :

battery on a police dog=punching the dog
resisting arrest without violence= running in the first place.
