These are kill shelters. The animals will be killed if not adopted even if the shelters stay open and the cost to adopt is so high few can afford to anyway.

These folks want to stay open, they just no longer have the funds. The shelter in Brewton just had a fund drive, along with asking for pet materials from the community but it just didn’t do well.

It is true that simply neutering the animals would take care of much of the issue but the culture in our area is to just leave ‘em natural and let ‘em run free or chain ‘em to a clothesline. It has changed a bit over the last decade or so but not enough. Sad.

We will see more animals on the streets in our communities. Watch out for rabies.

Great! Now there will be more sick/injured/starving animals dropped at people’s houses and wondering the streets, getting hit by cars! Way to go Atmore and Brewton! Let’s over-load whatever shelters are left in other Counties! This is the DUMBEST thing I’ve seen so far!

I hate this, but it’s just another reason you should spade and neuter ur pets! We can get a hold of the pet population, it takes the owners doing it though.
