I am Australian. Apart from juveniles virtually no one here carries a knife or a gun.Especially guns.At age 69 I have never seen a handgun or have ever met anyone who owns one. Let alone carry one routinely. In fact our laws specifically forbid it. Police carry out random searches on teens who ,in the main, are the only group who offend.

REGARDING:
“@horrific!
Many men (and some ladies too) carry pocket knives on a regular basis”

They're right, Horrific!, knives are handy tools. Carrying a knife does not indicate evil intent.

I remember in the sixth grade a fellow student's shoe laces got in a hard knot and needed removing quickly for some reason or other. Our sixth grade teacher was also Byrneville's principal. One of us said, "Mr. Shoemake, if you'll look that way for ten seconds, that knot won't be a problem." The principal did and the lace was cut when he looked back. The knife had been pulled, used and replaced in the intervening time.

They aren’t allowed in school due to the poor judgment of so many children but you’ll never know who all has one until someone misuses it.

David for good judgment
and proper use of tools

@ Buddy well said sir! It's whats in your heart that is more important. I carry a knife and have since I was a kid. But I carry it as a tool not a weapon. I also carry a weapon I am fully licensed before anyone whants to ask. Notice I refered to it as a weapon I did not call it a gun. There is a reason for that because is just that. If you know what a weapon is about you will know it is designed to take life and or defend life from being taken. It is not a toy or something you can use for anything else. A knife is used for a lot of things and is not what you should carry to fight with. Especially if you run into someone who may have a weapon like a 357 or a 45. Not smart to take a knife if you will to gun fight!

Went to Elementary school in Fayetteville, Arkansas and I never heard of a "Pound Creek, Arkansas", they made us learn all kinds of town names and locations...there's a wildlife refuge named Pond Creek way south of Fort Smith, but it isn't a town name that I know of...

hmmm...

And now he's back on Nine Mile Road....great...right where I shop...great...

Aggravated battery with a deadly weapon sure is cheap bail around here these days. Thanks, Judge. (William - Who was the Judge setting bail?)

Sure hope he stays away from knives (and booze, and fights, and people) 'til his court date.

That is, if he even shows.

@horrific- Ill leave the first part of your last post alone being that EVERYONE ELSE on here seems to agree with me. Now on to the 2nd part.

You said "Second if you got into an arguement with a man is that the first thing YOU would think to do is get the knife out and stick somebody? I lean towards
this is probably not"

Well you are right about me, I would never stab anyone unless they were trying to harm my daughter or my Pitbulls. But no where in the article did they say it happened like that. Here, Ill refresh your memory. "According to witnesses, both Borden and Weaver were in the bar drinking when the two started to argue. The argument led to a physical fight which ended after Weaver was stabbed." See it jump from "your momma" to him being stabbed. There was a fight then the fight ended from the stabbing. Now im not saying the stabber had a reason because it doesnt seem like he did. But you are trying to make it sound like people who carry knives are irresponsible and we pull them out at a drop of a hat. That isnt true. Let me add this also. I bounced at a bar on the beach for years and i have broken up atleast 1000 fights. I would say atleast 77 percent of those we found knives on the people when the cops searched them. Not one time did they pull it.

I carry a knife with me at all times... my wife has at least 2 in her purse.

Not unusual at all... most folks I know carry at least a small pocket knife..
.. bet it is more common then a handkerchief any more.

I've carried a knife in my pocket since I was 9 years old and my Daddy gave me my first Barlow. In all these intervening years I've never had occasion to cut anyone (except myself occasionally). Tarring everyone who carries a knife with the same brush is a foolish as saying all people who drive a car are eventually going to have a drunk driving accident. What a man or a woman carries in their pocket is much less important than what they carry in their heart. If you are the type to hunt trouble you will find it whether or not you have a knife.

@ horrific!

Those "men" you're talking about that don't carry a pocketknife? Probably rich mealy-mouthed lawyers and other desk-jockey-types.

If I've got my britches on, I've got a knife in my pocket. Probably a lot of other guys around here like that, too.
