You asked the question and I pictured a number of dogs suspended from weather balloons sniffing out suspects as they floated along.

At a guess, though, the idea might have been that dogs on the ground could do a good job of sniffing out people on foot. They probably wouldn’t do all that well against suspects in cars, though, because dogs don’t drive well–too busy hanging their heads out the window.

Model airplanes with cameras MIGHT do the job in some situations (similar to what we use in Afghanistan, but probably without the missiles lest some officer yield to temptation) but dogs don’t fly them well either, too quickly distracted by squirrels.

What do you think about them flying treetop high over your property and looking at you with the scope on a rifle . That’s what they did to me before it was grounded. I don’t like it at all.Hey Sheriff invest in a pair of binoculars!

I think it is a very good idea. Everyone forgets what our officers face on $32,000 dollars a year. But everyone is quick to call 911 when something happens. Just remember if something happened to your child you would want the helicopter flying to find your lost child. Yeah it cost money to fly it but so does everything else. They have caught alot of people that need to be behind bars with this thing.

i dont know where u get obama mixed up in this we live in north escambia not d.c.

pilots make more than 40g a year
and both officers will have their road cars still also

Let’s see, if we pay a pilot lets say $40,000 a year and one Deputy lets say $32,000 a year, that leaves about $28,000 left to actually fly the Air Frame. I think Morgan said during his Campaign it cost about $1500.00 an hour to fly, that doesn’t get it in the air very long.
