I remember Mr. Gilman as a neighbor, a dedicated servant in my church growing up, the Father of my friend Willie Jean, and the first man I picked cotton for. In every role he was a good, kind, respected, loving man of faith that walked the walk. I always admired and respected the way he took care of his family and was their spiritual leader.

My condolences to all his family, I know you will miss him. God's peace and comfort to you all. Mary Alice

John and Myra Gilman raised my dad from a baby. If it wasn't for them I wouldn't exist. I thank God for their love and kindness to my dad, myself and countless others. He has truly inspired me and my family.

I liked mr. Gilman. His daughter Helen was in my class at Bratt. He was a very fair and honest man and a hard worker. One of my first jobs I ever had was picking cotton for him when I was real young. Best to all. Pete

this was a great man. My brother and i used to spend a lot of time at his house with he and his wife. we shot birds out of his trees and helped clean fish for after one of his many trips. it was amazeing that they put up with us as long as they did. but as far as i know he never once complained when he'd see us come in the yard. To the grandchildren i can honestly say i know what you are going through July will make 22 years that my grandfather passed. Sorry for your loss but remember he is in a uch better place. Comments show the name Robert but ya'll know me as Jarrod Peebles.
