If they would just leave the lights on and patrol the area and also install cameras, they could eliminate the problem and the kids would have a place to play.

But you’ve definitely provided anecdotal evidence that putting in nice parks doesn’t assure criminal intents and actions will cease or go elsewhere.

I used to live in front of Showalter Park and I moved just to get away from the crack deals in my yard and all the BOOM BOOM and people going back there just to have sex.
Yeah, my life is what I make of it…..that’s why I made it somewhere else.

Actually, Century has some nice parks but many folks are afraid to use them, afraid there might be a party too close.

why don’t you ask the kids how they feel about it? i bet some that are now going to bratt are brimming with pride that something from their old school has followed them to bratt elementary. that being said, in my most humble opinion, a nice city park that is welcoming to tiny tots as well as folks just passing through, would be another feather in century’s cap. i read somewhere once that the more parks and or spots devoted to recreation and beauty, the less crime a city will have. just a thought.

Were local kids allowed to play on it at the Carver/Century school? The kids have nowhere to go. Have any of you looked at the equipment at Showalter Park lately? It’s a joke. If you want to play with your kids, you have to go to Hurricane Park and that’s not exactly small child friendly either.

Yet another loss for Century children. Why am I not surprised?
