you guys can sit here and say all you wont to saying that the teacher is in the right but yall dont have to sit in her class everyday and listen to her tell you that you are never going to amount to anything and that you are going to be homeless. if u are going to call yourself a teacher be a good leader. i have goals and dreams and hope that one day i can reach them.

regarding:
"i WONDER WHY PEOPLE ALWAYS WANT TO RESORT TO VIOLENCE WITH KIDS INSTEAD OF COMMUNICATION."

People DON'T always want to resort to violence. SOME believe it is a part of communication, though. This is especially likely when the child doesn't respond to written or verbal communication or body language.

It can definitely backfire, though. Some children ignore any communication not tied to violence. There is a good chance they will face far harsher violence when they get older and deal with people who don‘t love them as much as their parents and possibly even teachers do, as they ignore the communications of the people they meet.

Did the Girl lie? Yes she did, did she have any regard for what might happen to the teacher because of her lie. No she did not. Kick her out for 2 weeks and give her time to think about it.And put in in her school record.

Actually, old lady, there IS a very good reason for kids not to obey teachers. If the teacher is telling them to do something that is wrong (how many teachers have had affairs with their students?) or against what their parents have taught them. Or what if your child has diarrhea (sorry to have to be crude here, but it's necessary to make the point) and asks to go to the bathroom and the teacher tells them no? Would you rather they stayed in the classroom and pooped their pants? What if they are really sick and about to vomit and ask to go to the nurse and the teacher refuses? What if your daughter suddenly has her monthly visitor but the teacher says "Oh well. You should have gone between classes"? (Which, btw, is only 3 minutes to get from the last class to the next which may be clear across campus) Suppose they are having an asthma attack and need to go get their inhaler (since they are no longer allowed to carry it with them)? Yeah, my kid better not mind the teacher in one of these situations.

I mean, seriously, there ARE times in which you simply CANNOT expect a child to obey the teacher. And if you don't back your child up when they are in the right, you will lose all respect that child has ever had for you. I refuse to blindly go along with whatever the teacher says simply because he/she is the teacher. That's like saying, "Oh, hey, he's a priest so you do whatever he tells you." We all know where that mentality leads them, don't we?

Sorry, but your comment was very wrong. We would be gullible fools to teach our kids to follow adults' every command. Talk about setting them up to be molested and taken advantage of. Geez!!

There is no excuse for a student to not obey a teacher or other adult who is supervising them. Yep, teach the kids that they don't have to obey a teacher, stand up for them when they are wrong and you will get lots of practice in order to defend them against the police and other law enforcement officers. ------and save your money to pay for the bond fees and lawyers you will need in the future.

God help our teachers and God Bless America!

wow, kids just don't realize how saying something isn't JUST saying something. She could have gotten this teacher into serious trouble. I hope the teen has learned a lesson. If she hasn't I wouldn't be suprised to see a story with her claiming abuse at home or from a boyfriend. Sounds like she wanted some attention and didn't care how she got it. Some actions come with serious consequences. Teachers have a hard and most often thankless job. I'm glad the truth did come out.

I do NOT support paddling in schools because I remember seeing kids paddled for things they didn't do and also seeing kids get hit hard enough to lift them off their feet. I have always filed written instructions with my children's schools telling them that if they put their hands on my kids, they will be sued. If my child needs a whipping, rest assured that they WILL get it when they get home. I don't think it's up to the school to decide that.

My son once called me and said that the school was going to paddle him. I spoke with the principal and told him that if they touched my child before I got there, the police and DCF would be there with me and that I was on my way. After investigating the situation, my son was not at fault. Someone else had done it, but the teacher blamed him. The entire class was called in individually and questioned and every single kid named the other boy. Now what if my son hadn't called me? He would have been punished for something he didn't do and the one who HAD would have gone free. They just don't check things out as thoroughly as they should and for that reason, they'd better keep their hands off my kids.

Also, how do you teach kids that they aren't supposed to hit people when other adults are allowed to do it to them? Only a parent has the right to physically punish a child.
