I am one of the firefighters here in Walnut Hill. We have had a lot of brush fires in the past three weeks. A lot of them were from burn permits that forestry gave out. I know that the cause of most of these are from people not building a barrior around what needs to be burnt or not watching the fire. If every one would actually wait until the wind died down and we get some more rain then we would have no problems with these brush fires.

Why is it legal to burn yard debris only in the winter months when everything is dead and dry and a fire hazard? Sometimes it rains every other day in July or August and there is hardly any wind. It would seem that outdoor fires would be so much safer.

I live on Sunshine Hill rd & have been burning leaves in the yard for 20 yrs & NEVER had a fire “pile” get out of control. People NEED to know what they are doing..I’ve had 3-4 different firepiles going @ the same time & you must watch them & have a hose ready. If you want a lesson on this subject just ASK!

Dumb and dumber — STOP WITH THE FIRES — if someone is burning trash and it gets out of hand then they need to be made to for all expenses and they need to be fined. It this is arson — please quit, These fires are inexcusable and possibly criminal. Hope CSX investigates this and finds out who did it. Sick and tired of people being just plain stupid.
