It could have been handled better and if you know Steve, his judgement has never been the best in the world but he is a good person at heart. Sometimes it just takes people a long time to grow up and take ownership of things around them and do the right thing. If Steve need to go to work he should have taken a different step to get to work "get someone to come get him" but he did not so now he pays the price and good for it. If you people will remember one of the wrecks right their a kid was killed so anyone thinking this was not that bad because she was not hurt, just ask MR & MS Hammond about this subject!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Granted what he is accused of could have been worse. But putting this hard working man behind bars for any length of time is not the answer. There are people here in Escambia County who do far worse. In closing I would say to those that have a dirty back yard...you need to clean your own yard before you step in another's yard. No one is perfect. We are all children of God. We are a work in progress. He should be punished but jail is not the answer. Maybe a little community work and seek counseling if necessary. My advice to Steve is do not drive anymore or you could go to prison. I have read that you are a hard worker and family man. Hold your head tall and do not give up my friend.
