They came out and checked. I told them there was no man, but, yes, I had burned trash earlier that day. They actually looked through the ashes to see what was there and said that they wouldn't give me a ticket that day, but if they came out again and I was still burning it, I would get a ticket. He gave me a pamphlet that says that in the county, you can only burn limbs, straw and other yard debris but no wood or plywood, no wooden furniture, whatever. I told him that I'd been burning my trash in a barrel since I first bought my house and he said then I was lucky that nobody had called them on me before this. I told him that several of my neighbors burn theirs also and I never hear any complaints but I would no longer burn my trash. So WHY were they burning and WHY didn't they stay right there by it to keep it from getting out of hand? Will they be forced to pay the expenses for fighting the fire?
