Daryll, it has not always been this way. Up until the early sixties American business was extremely proud to give the people real value for their money. Large and small business did all they could to keep improving on quality of whatever service or product it was. Sometime in the seventies, or before, as income tax rates started rising working people had less spendable cash, therefore started looking for cheaper goods and services. Now start factoring in the greed of corporate gurus, and how to make a fast buck and what do you end up with? Walmart and idiots like the ones running BP. I do know where you're coming from though.

This is about being short sighted, and willing to take risk it to make more money. I see it in my profession where we have a contractor do something completely inappropriate and when nailed on it, ends up costing him time and money to fix the issue. And I ask every time "why not do it right the first time?".

We've geared ourselves up to try to do things the cheapest and quickest in all things to make the quickest dollar, with no looking ahead for the long term. It has been a problem in our society since the beginning of the Industrial Age.
