Great. And our legislators and last Gov. though Septic Tanks were an issue?

Sure hope Pam Bondi files an injunction against this in Federal Court.

Talk about downstream pollution - all that waste flow will drain straight down to P-cola, and everywhere in between. Think about those East Bay Oysters filtering that through their system, before they become someone's next meal.

Since no-one wants to live next door to a landfill, what we need are some very aggressive mandatory recycling laws. Charge by the pound to dump your trash and see how many people will take the time to sort through it. I have been recycling for over 10 years now, aluminum cans current price in California is $1.50 per pound, just think of all those beer cans you people drink, you could be making a fortune or at least enough to fill up your big SUV's once a week.

Well said. (chuckle) That's why in most cities (not all) in the US the rich part of town is on the north and the poor folks live on the south side. The garbage, sewage, etc. flows from north to south. We don't usually care who has to deal with it as long as it ain't us.

DAVID SAID...
folks used to haul it down to the river swamp and let the next flood take it the rest of the way to Pensacola

None of us want a dump next door but I have a question....

What do y'all do with *your* garbage? Whose community do you send it to? Do you burn it and pollute your neighbors air? Or do you toss it into the back yard like one family I know?

Just curious.

Recycling is a good idea. Also, each state should have a landfill for their own garbage. This is something that should not be shared from state to state. And Possibly, have one for each ounty, or divide counties up into districts for a landfill. Have more organization of where the garbage is coming from adn going to. That way Alabama does not get anything but Alabama garbage. And if it is your own garbage you shouldn't complain.

The mayor of Repton is Terri Carter she is diligently working to prevent this from happening and has met with the former mayor of Pensacola. Here is a link to her website or more specific to the page about the dump. She is very actively battling this issue.

@ Haze. You are right. Read the manifest,it says garbage from all over 48 states. The other states have forbidden these kind of facilities. They do not want them in their back door. We do not want California and New York garbage dumped in our back door,we have enough of our own, let them take care of theirs.
