Sounds like he should have already been in the slammer to me. What makes no sense to me if how somebody like this can still be walking around free after that many convictions, yet a hard working person who has never been in jail a day in their life gets sent to prison if they are DUI and accidentally cause a death, regardless of the circumstances. I'm not condoning drunk driving at all, but think about a scenario where a man or woman who has worked for 20 or more years and has raised a family, never been in any trouble, has one too many drinks at a party, then gets into a wreck on the way home and unfortunately somebody dies. That person is gonna go serve a lengty prison sentence, where this idiot stealing steaks and pulling a knife on a loss prevention officer has seven felony convictions and wasn't in prison. Sounds like the person with a good job and family who is in an accident and kills somebody with a blood alcohol level above .08 is a much better candidate for probation that somebody with seven felonies. I know the guy got twenty years, but why wasn't he already in prison? What ever happened to the old "three strikes" rule?
