Because it has not been established you DID shoot someone. You are ACCUSED of shooting someone. It is possible you didn’t do it. As such, you have the freedom to prove your innocence (if possible) and that is hard to do from jail.

For that matter, it is possible you DID shoot someone but did so in self-defense. In that case, you should also not be put in jail for protecting yourself.

These look like fine, upstanding citizens, so maybe they are innocent.

I think when I get so old I can not take care of myself and can’t afford a nursing home I will just commit a crime and go to prison and let someone else worry about it.

If prisons were more like they used to be, sentences could be shorter and ergo, less perps in prison at any given time, ergo, less crowding ’cause they would hate prison life so much, they would not do a thing to go back.

Prisoners have it too easy —- they can be lazy, not work, have a roof over their heads, full bellies, a social life, clean linens, and above all, drugs. Why would thugs want to go straight??

Bring back the good ole days when they had to wash hospitals’ laundry, make tags, work in a moter pool, etc., instead of looking up porn on computers bought by us.

They want to be in a gang?? Put them in a chain gang.

As i am not taking up for these idiots, I don’t want to jump to any conclusions as far as blaming their parents..In some cases, yes the parents are to blame but not all.
All the judicial system is going to do it slap them on the hand and tell them that was a no no and they will walk and do it all over again..
We need tougher penalties against crimes..Jail or even Prison does not seem to do the trick..People without a coinscience do not care. They do not care!
Send their butts over seas and let them fight the war since they like to play with guns so much. There is not a word to describe idiots these days. It’s an insult to an idiot!

Why was their bond set so low initially? I understand the comment that more charges are forthcoming, but surely even a liberal judge would understand that that was an idiotic bond and a lack of charges given the PC…
