true but also think it is illegal to drive while under the influence. We may be wrong to do so, but we expect adults to act like adults. One thing most of us know is that impaired reaction time makes collisions more likely.

Further, the article itself doesn’t say the girl was on the road at the time.

Hey Beverly, This is Raychell’s Mom. OMG! I cannot believe this has happened to you, My husband asked me this morning if I knew of a girl named Beverly Blackmon and I said “Yes”, then he told me to look on North Escambia… I do agree that all of these 3 wheelers, 4 wheelers, ATV’s etc… should not be ridin’ on the hiways, they are so dangerous; but I see them all the time. I however, do not know the Alabama laws of riding these on state or county dirt roads. I can’t believe this driver of the motor vehichle would just leave a child out there like that. I do hope that he gets whats coming to him. We will be praying for your recovery Beverly, Hope you get well very soon. We Love Ya!

First of all I will say I hope this child makes a full and complete recovery. Next I will say……These ATV’s are NOT permitted to operate on the pavement or right-of-way of a county or state road. It’s done everyday right here in the North Escambia area and it needs to stop!! With the careless drivers we have out here these days we will have one of these accidents in our own community soon…

I was there last Sunday afternoon, I was there the driver of the motor vehicle was still on scene(cant say if he had had been drinking or not, he stayed to himself). Members of the Appleton Fire Dept got there and worked on the little girl untill the ambulance got there.The Fire Dept., ambulance and myself left about the same time to go meet the helicopter in a field at Lowery Landing Road and Appleton Road. When we left, the driver of the truck was still on scene but no law enforcement was on scene.
In my opinion this could have happened if the driver of the motor vehicle had been drinking or not, it was on a dirt road on a 90 degree curve.

I just hope that if parents are buying ATV’s for Christmas for children they will also buy the safety gear for them, teach them about safety and find out about the laws in the state they are in.
I’m not placing blame on the guy in the motor vehicle or the little girl on the ATV. I just pray that the girl makes a full recovery….
Our children are our futhur!!!!!! They learn from us…..

“JUST CURIOUS but if you’re a PASSENGER of an accident that happened close to your home and someone you knows home and you’re not injured just VERY shaken up can you still be charged with leaving the scene of an accident or is that for just the driver????

Florida state statutes below give the wording, applies to injures and to the driver of the vehicle, not the passengers.

FSS 316.027 Accidents involving death or personal injuries.
FSS 316.061 Accidents involving damage to vehicle or property.

why was a12yr old on an ATV in the road in the first place ? Was she by herself ? Isn’t it against the law ? I see lots of children driving on the roads sometimes 3 of them on an atv with no helmets…they are accidents waiting to happen..I am not sticking up for the truck driver by any means..I just think parents ought to set some limits for their young children

I am praying for this girl and anyone who drinks and drives should NOT be aloud back on the roads, PERIOD!!!! JUST CURIOUS but if your a PASSENGER of an accident that happened close to your home and someone you knows home and your not injured just VERY shaken up can you still be charged with leaving the scene of an accident or is that for just the driver???? I was in an accident close to my Moms house 3 months ago and was very scared from it and wanted to go sit at my moms house and take a nap and just calm down but I was afraid I would get charged too……

Another good boy does the wrong thing and leaves the scene because he is DUI……..and don’t tell me he isn’t quilty…obviously he has the correct damage
to his truck and /or he was seen…..and why else would you leave a 12 year
old girl injured and flee……drunken bums…. i hope this 38 year juvenile delinquent who doesn’t care about anyone but himself doesn’t get away with this because some lawyer gets him off.
