I agree with you :-) as far as not understanding why people drink..people turn into idiots when they drink however; we are NOT our own God. There is a God who has a plan for our life and we may not understand why things happen the way they do but thats God's plan and we all have a way we will die. This is a sad situation all around but reading from other post there is alot more to the story than some drunk guy deciding to drive. It appears they both were messed up and I guess it was a matter of who thought they were better off than the other. Again, its sad that people dont know their limit and end up harming others unintentional.

Which is what is wrong with our society these days, there are non absolutes, no right and wrong...... you are your own 'god' and it is only wrong if you think its wrong....
Sorry, but this mind set does not change any thing...like I said about the red light..... it does not take a "self righteous" person to know if you ran the light..... but it IS self righteous to try and say what your intentions were..... but the peer fact of wrong requires no ones opinion..... it is what it is regardless to what you and I think.... and drinking, knowing the possibilities.... knowing that it IS the way these "accidents" happen.... is wrong.... responsible people do not play those games..... they stay away from it.
It's like playing Russian rullet with your life~

I once had a Chem teacher at a Junior College who said if u studied both alcohol and marijuana and the effects in the body as far as changes in reaction in times, vision changes, anger control issues, and damage to the body with long term usage, and marijuana was less harmful substance than alcohol. I am not saying that is my opinion, just stating what I was told in Chem class in 1993. Drinking and Driving is very bad. Just as is driving while you are sleepy. In a prior article post, people tore someone who said they would stop to nap if necessary apart. People need to get smart. Don't drive when impaired by either drink, drugs, or sleep. And No, the drunk driver does not always walk away. 12 years ago the drunk crossed the line and hit a family of four headon. The drunk died. Dad is forever handicapped. Everyone else recovered. Please be safe out there. LifeFlight, Firefighters, Cops, and ER nurses have nightmares just like the rest of us.

REGARDING:
"Drink responsibly"

That's an interesting ad campaign some sellers of alcoholic beverages use. The word “responsibly” is a good thing so whatever is associated with it must be a good thing. What is the word associated with it? “Drink.”

Please consider this one: Responsibly DON'T drink.

I know. It's your choice whether to drink or not. Please just consider making the choice to NOT drink. It won't kill you to NOT drink, and we KNOW it does kill some TO drink. Surely that's the most responsible action of all.

And consider what they taught you back in Driver's Ed. When you start to drink, judgment is one of the first things to go. Thus, if they can get you to drink, responsible actions which depend on judgment are impaired first, less likely.

It's your choice. Please consider making it while you are sober and staying that way.

REGARDING:
"The comments section under a drug-related (alcohol) vehicular manslaughter story is a pretty dumb place to be advocating the the legalization of marijuana."

I could be wrong, but I believe people doped up on marijuana are more careful when driving than people doped up on alcohol. I've actually read that they are more careful than people not doped up on anything, but that could just be the dopers talking.

One thing seems sure, proper response to people on drugs hurting others due to the use of those drugs needs to be considered. It's fascinating how many have been involved multiple times in alcohol related driving problems but are still out in the general population, endangering others.
