I would love to give blood, however, I will be out of town Saturday. I have A- blood type. Does anyone know when the next local blood drive will be in Atmore? I haven’t given blood very much this year because I never hear where or when it’s going to be.

i also would like to know what blood type is needed…would like to donate on his behalf regardless, but it’d be nice to know if it’s a possiblity that i may be helping him

He is O-. But please go donate anyway. O- is universal donor and can be used by anyone needing blood. If you are O- that is the only blood you can receive. O+ is the most common blood type. All blood types are always needed. If there is a plentiful supply of the other types then the O- doesn’t have to be used for other patients. It is wonderful how everyone has come out and donated to support this officer. Reminds me of 911. What everyone needs to remember, you can donate every 8 weeks, not just during a crisis. I
