As a teacher and a mom, I have always wished that tuck or treating would be on a Saturday every year, regardless of the actual date of Halloween. That way, kids aren’t tired the next morning in school because they were out too late. To me, it would be similar to the way the Monday near a holiday is counted as the “official” holiday so people can have a long weekend. I’m not interested in an argument if you have a different opinion ; I just think it would be easier on families (and teachers, as anyone who’s ever tried teaching a class full of sleepy kids would know).

Please stop saying that we need to respect God and Church sundays. I go to church and everything. Hallowen is not about Satan or anything bad. Its real origins are because the death of the land; the leaves falling from the trees and such. Overtime everyone tells diffrent stories, but if you really want to insult other people maybe you should know more about your topic.

Here's some points - first according to the Bible, the Sabbath was the 7th day of the week, so here in the States, Saturday would actually be the Sabbath. Secondly, if one has a problem with celebrating Halloween or trick-or-treating on a Sunday because it is "church day" then maybe he/she shouldn't be going at all whether Sunday or Saturday. Thirdly, having a church function or fall festival or whatever on Halloween is still holding a celebration that day, and is no different than dressing up the children and going with them to trick-or-treat and having fun that way. I would also like to ask why some of you have such a problem with celebrating Halloween, but do you realize that the days we celebrate Christmas and Easter are actually on pagan (or non-Christian) holidays...so maybe you should be worried about celebrating Christian holidays on the same days as pagan holidays instead of closer to or on the actual days of the respective holidays. If you celebrate parts of Easter such as egg hunting and the Easter bunny, you should realized that those also come from pagan rituals, so are y'all going to stop celebrating those elements of Easter as well? Just something to think about.

Wow!!!! i see that once again the adult are trying to ruin a fun filled day for the children. As a mom of 2 small children. Would it be easier on sat yes, but does it matter no. It is all about my kids being able to wear make- up and have fun. I believe in god and go to church. But would i change the date just becuz a bunch of adults want to make it about there beliefs no way..... I think as an adult put YOUR feelings aside and let these children be children. And does it matter if they go both days? REALLY? This maybe be the one time a year that they get anything because its free and their parents can afford to let them walk around and have fun. So QUIT thinking about yourselves and let our children have some fun. Just make it safe for them.

I don't see what the big deal is about kids trick or treating on Sunday. I was raised in a christian home of both church of christ and baptist and no matter what day halloween fell on we went trick or treating. It wasn't all about the meaning to us as kids iwas about the fun of being able to dress up in something funny, pretty, or scary and who could get the most candy so all you holy rollers need to let kids be kids and let them have fun quit making such a big deal out of it.

Halloween should be observed on whatever day of the week it falls on. We all know what Halloween stands for but the kids don't. They just think of it as a day to dress up and get candy. So let them get dressed up and get candy!
Those that argue that Halloween should be switched to Saturday because Sunday is the Sabbath, well, not all religions observe Sunday. My Sabbath is on Saturday. I don't make a big deal about it. On the years that Halloween falls on MY sabbath, I just don't let my kids trick or treat. I observe my belief quietly and in private. I don't force my beliefs on the rest of the world!
Do whatever is right for you and your family without stuffing your beliefs down everyone elses throat!

Halloween falls on a Sunday so trick or treating should be done on a Sunday. If it falls on a Wednesday it's done on a Wednesday even though it's a school night. It's called common sense. If it falls on a night where kids have school the next day, you should start trick or treating earlier in the night so kids are still in bed on time. We're not putting out candy on Saturday. We'll gladly pass it out on Sunday because that's Halloween.
