Like Tony Powell, my older brothers and sisters also went to school with Johnny, Skippy and Mickey and my mother was best of friends with their mother, Mary Beth White and at times helped her keep up her house work in Pollard. They did for a fact have good musical talent. They had a record that Mrs White gave us a copy of. I still remember the name of the song “Goodbye Summer Love”.and and the lyrics. My heart bleeds for all his friends and family. But I feel like heaven has gained an asset!

I was so sorry to hear about Skippy. My heart goes out to the family. I loved it when my family lived in Polard and Johnny, Mickey and Skippy would come over and make music and sing. That is some of my fondest memories of my YOUTH.

My brothers and sister and I were fortunate to have grown up with Skippy. My brothers played ball with Skippy at Flomaton H.S. Skippy and his brothers, Mickey and Johnny, were some of the most talented people I’ve ever known. They were blessed with so much musical talent. I remember fondly watching them sing and play when I was a boy.
The White family is revered in Escambia County and rightfully so. One could never know a better family.
Skippy was a kind-hearted soul who always had time for everyone. My life was enriched because I knew him and his family. And for that I am grateful.
My thoughts and prayers are extended to his family.
