I knew Jeff and he was the kindest guy I worked with. I think this guy should have to stay in jail for the rest of his life, at least. He took away a great man and loving father. He shouldn't have the option to get out and have his own family or even worse take another life. He obviously doesn't think before he does things. So he should never be able to get out of jail. EVER!!! Saying god will punish him doesn't work for me. Because what if there is no god and he just gets away with 25 years probably will be let out sooner since our justice system is so screwed up. If we did, we would not allow people to be arrested for murder or any other crime, because that would be JUDGEMENTAL. We would not allow them to be brought before a judge--because he isn‘t God. We would certainly not allow a jury of ordinary people to JUDGE if they were guilty of a crime--because they are all sinners too. We would not allow legislators to make laws which included punishment for crime because that would require some form of judgment. Yes, ultimately we believe it is up to God to decide whether or not they burn for eternity for their sins, but in the here and now, we decide whether or not to stop them from committing more crimes against other people and whether or not to punish them for past ones. And yes, it is a wasted life. This person wasted the life of the person he murdered and he wasted his own life by committing a crime so wicked even we decided to lock him away from most of humanity and whatever good he might have done with his life had he not decided to murder others instead. He will be out on the streets again, more than likely in 25 years. He KILLED a man, a great man, and got such a lite sentence!!! Chances are he will repeat the crime. So, I guess we just wait until he gets out, kills again, then put him back in jail.
