David I’m not sure when the last time you were in school or rode on a school bus but that is NOT true I graduated in 2007 and I have NEVER in my days rode on a bus with seat belts and as of today they still have no seat belts. At least all don’t.

All buses since 2002 have seat belts. The children are SUPPOSED to use them. You still see buses with numbers ending with 00, 00, 01 driving down the road. They usually do not have seat belts. Since it says she was driving a 99 bus, I imagine it had no seat belts.

A rear end collision would drive children back into their cushioned seats and do little if any harm. If they were thrown forward and sitting properly, they would strike the cushioned seats in front of them and do little if any harm. About the only time seat belts actually reduce injuries is when the bus turns over.

As I understand this incident, a sedan struck the rear of a school bus and left the scene. I was not there, although, I have been to several incidents similar to this. Usually you ask the school bus driver are there any injuries. The answer is normally, ” not yet.” At the first complaint of injury, the theatrics start. Mass
disaster rules. Ambulances (plural) are dispatched. Neck injuries and attorneys, life flight should have been called. The kids have been taught well.

If I had warrants, no liscense, no insurance, and a truck full of dope, I could not have left the scene, I would have been more concerned about those children that the trouble that I might get in. I sure hope that they find this person.
