To Hurricane Pride:

Sounds like some personal pride is in the way of Team pride. You must remember, the kids starting, are still young and gaining valuable experience, in fact, only 4 seniors on the entire team! These kids need lots of action also, to prepare and be ready to compete with Mobile Christian, Leroy and other quality opponents. This was only the 3rd game of the year! Besides that, how could a coach be running the score up when he chooses to play only 6 minute quarters like they did in the 2nd half that game?????? And the 4th quarter they did use subs???? You’ve got to balance out the need to prepare your starters and give them the experience they are going to need desparately in the tough games ahead, with the need to reward everyone who has also been working hard with playing time they deserve…. And remember, their time will come also. Working hard and having patience, supporting their teamates, having quality character and a positive attitude…. all of this makes every player a valuable contributor to the team! And we as parents must set this example. Having REAL Hurricane Pride means that we want what is best for the team to be able to succeed and reach their goals and win each game, including the big ones which are ahead. The coaches need our support and patience also. They will never be perfect but they are there to make the decisions and lead our Canes to success! There has never been and never will be an “I” in TEAM!

Well said Mr. Thompson. This is as good or better all around Football team that I’ve seen in this little small town of Flomaton in my 56 years. I think some scholarships will result from this team and I think they’re Leroy ready for a state championship. Hurricane pride said” soon they will meet their match”. I sure don’t wanna miss that game!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hurricane pride thinks 55 points is running up the score on a weaker team and is critical of the Flomaton coach for not playing every player on the team.

The canes were leading this game 35 to 0 with 10 minutes to go in the second quarter. This was the point where the coach started calling plays that were not part of their normal game plan. 27 points were scored in the first quarter. If they had continued that trend for the other 3 quarters that would be 108 points. That would have been running the score up. If this game had been later in the season I feel sure the coach would have gave every player a chance to play. This early in the season a game like this is a golden opportunity to see what works and what don’t and that is why a lot of the starters stayed in the game. It wasn’t to run the score up.

“My hats off to the Hurricane coach for not running the score up”………so 55 isn’t on up there? I’m proud for the kids at Flomaton having a good season, BUT it was pretty crappy of the coach to keep most of his starters in the WHOLE game. What about those kids that stood on that sideline the whole night and didn’t get to step on that field? Lastnight every kid on that Hurricane team should have gotten some playing time. All I can say is I hope the Cane’s don’t get too cocky too quick, soon they will meet their match.

My hats off to the Hurricane coach for not running the score up on Uriah. Instead he wisely worked on his passing attack which has been almost totally unneeded so far with these talented running backs. This is looking more and more like catergory 5 Hurricane on the Safire-OJ Simpson scale.

Kudos also go to Corey Busby who made 7out of 7 attempts for the extra points for the night, the only unsuccessful attempt was a fake kick/run play for the final extra point.
