i get to take care of many of those injured motorcyclist AFTER their accidents…all i can say is….WEAR YOUR HELMETS!!…that, among other questions, is one of the first things that we ask when we get them to the critical care unit….were they wearing a helmet?…it does make a big difference, believe me!

No one stated that you didn’t have the “right” to be on a motorcycle. In my opinion they seem very dangerous.

Why don’t motorcyclist’s assume like bicyclists like myself that you are invisible. I have been driving since 1963 and I have always found pedestrians and all cyclists difficult to see because they are not commonly on roadways. If you think you see them well congrats, but I think you are in denial and been lucky. I sincerely believe we are all capable of hitting these people and so far my luck has held out.

Splat is not very smart, Peter your not far behind. We who ride motorcycles have as much right to be on the road as you. I know some riders are irresponsible. But with your attitudes I don’t think you would care at all if you caused a bike to go down.

Anyone can have an accident…no matter how good a rider you are, not matter how smart you are, no matter how good your reaction time is. If and when that accident happens, you are more likely to survive it (in one piece even) in a car than on a motorcycle. Don’t ever dream that you are some incredible rider & because of your incredible skills you have avoided being road-kill.

Maybe he did look both ways but simply didnt see the motorcycle. Theres a reason why its called an “accident”. Motorcycles are smaller and less visible than cars or trucks thus making them harder to see. I own and drive a motorcycle and I ALWAYS look out for me and everyone else. I have almost been hit a few times but due to me constantly scanning the road and my surroundings I have been able to avoid all of them. When riding a bike you have to have the mindset that everything is your own fault so be cautious and look out for everyone else.

Yes, the motorist should have looked both ways but why do people still drive motorcycles??? He would not be in serious condition if it had a car or truck.
