We know that Pineville Rd will not be paved for years. At least they graded it this week for the first time in almost two months. It was so bad that some of us were using Occie Phillips to get out of the woods. Before they pave it, they're going to have to install pipes under some of the low places, and force some owners to install pipes under driveways. What a lot of people don't know is that it was designated as an evacuation route years ago. If they would go ahead and pave Phillips, it would help us a lot. All of you are right about 99. It needs widening and resurfacing badly.

As cheap as projects like these are being bid these days, that 48 million dollars worth of work will go for about half that amount...really...which unfortunately will give FDOT a hefty sum to send to another district in the state.

I totally agree with Mr. Bethea! South Hwy. 99 is in terrible condition plus being so narrow that a school bus and a log truck cannot meet each other without one getting off the road. Our children are too precious to be in this situation. There is a lot of traffic on this hwy. and anyone who lives on it will tell you it is unsafe. Maybe the TPO should drive on s hwy. 99 and then decide if Crabtree Church Rd. really needs to be widened before work is done on S. Hwy. 99.

I too agree with Kevin. Hwy 99 (especially between 97 and the state line) is horrible. I wish too they could widen West Hwy 4 the entire way. Is is much too narrow for all of the traffic. Maybe someday..........

I'm for any improvements to roads or bridges on the North end but I have to wonder who is making the decision to widen the shoulder of Crabtree Church road. I'm with you Kevin, South Hwy 99 is in poor shape--an accident waiting to happen.

They want to pave shoulders on Crabtree Church Rd, and it is already wider than South Highway 99, this doesn't make any sense! I guess that when a log truck dead ends a school bus, maybe they will consider 99 then!!
