almost wish my kids were back in ECHS, under the watchful eyes and disipline of Mr. Byrd…my kids would be honored to have them as their principal. He is stern when it comes to disipine, but also rewards them when they do good. He knows the students by name because he gets involved, he doesn’t just sit in his office while the school runs itself…or rather, while the kids (rule) it….

Glad to hear Mrs. Reid is the new principal Flomaton Elementary! She & Mr. Knot were a great team at Neal, & even before she became assistant principal at Neal Elem, she was a wonderful teacher! I know she will be an asset to Flomaton school!

I was absolutely elated when I found out that Mr. Byrd was going to be our new principal. I absolutely loved how he treated us at ECMS. Great rewards when we cooperated and obeyed, and constructive discipline when we didn’t. Although my class of 2013 hardly ever did anything wrong lol

I agree totally with Sandra and I’m excited to see the journey Mr.Byrd will take these young people on. I hope the middle school will get someone as great as Byrd.

I’m so excited to have Mr. Byrd coming to the high scool. He was an excellent principal at ECMPS and made so many needed improvements. Good Luck!

I think Mr. Byrd will do an outstanding job at ECHS…..it’s a good thing because all of the kids he had led for the past 4 years at the middle school, already know him, he knows them and they respect him. He will be able to “graduate” the first students he started with. BUT, and there is always a “but” in almost every situation…..BUT, who will lead the middle school now…in the same manner he did? This age child needs direct supervision and intervention BEFORE they reach high school, and I don’t know of anyone better than Mr. Byrd for that type of job. I hope he knows someone that could be that motivational leader to fill his shoes, because people, they are going to be hard to fill. I have seen him take children that had no respect for themselves, no future, no family life, no nothing, and turn them into a self respecting, mature,future driven young person that feels like they have self worth…..and that is not something just anyone can undertake. CONGRATULATIONS MR. BYRD!
