You make notes to be sure you cover the points you consider important and avoid the ones you will get flack over. A well written statement helps get the point across. A poorly delivered statement gets sidetracked onto matters other than what you were trying to say.

The real questions always are:
What was said?
What does it mean?
Will it work?
Will it hurt?
Will it help?
Will it help now but hurt down the line?
Will it hurt now but help down the line?

“we’re also going to set up an incident management team in Tallahassee, here in Florida”

Is this a good idea? bad idea? Will it help? Would some place closer to the water be better? Is being close to the state government offices more important than being near the water? Me not know.

“. . . business has dropped off as much as 40 percent in this area. And that has an impact on the entire economy . . . ”

Does this show he understands the situation? Seems to or at the very least is trying to. That counts and reduces fear.

“. . . I will be their fierce advocate in making sure that they are getting the compensation they need to get through what is going to be a difficult season. ”

Will he try to help all Americans rather than just those who have said good and supportive things about him (like me, of course)? It seems so. Will what he does to help actually help? We shall see.
