Hey Kids,

Stop getting so defensive. No one was saying bad things about the 15 year old girl who brought the drugs to school. We were only theorizing on WHY drugs are so appealing to our youth and WHY is there a 15 year old at EWMS.

Kids were getting suspended all the time from EWMS when I was there 10-12 years ago. Including myself! I got suspended for allergy medication! No one is judging. We all did stupid things as kids. (And yes, taking Xanax to school is stupid, no way around that).

You ask why drugs are appealing to our youth. Same reason they are to adults many have different reasons its not one size fits all and as long as people have issues to deal with there will be drug problemes.

i believe that if parents n schools would keep a closer eye on thier kids things like this would not happen. Yes, i agree kids will be kids but it is the duty of the parent that they monitor their children n keep them out of harms way... If u must have pills like that for your own need they need to be kept in a safe or something, OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN. That is on the lable for a reason not just to look at... What if that had been a baby...

I agree with that statement why are drugs so appealing to youth? I hav family members who are addicted to them. I think pills are just stupid in general. And sure kids will be kids but parents do need to moniter what kids are doing these days find something that they like to do keep them busy and mybe things like this wouldnt happen often!!

At 15 just cause lifes not going the way you want doesn't mean you take pills. First off someone stole the pill next they distributed them to minors last they endangered other childrens lives. I don't care who's kid this is mistake or not every action causes a reaction I just hope the authorities take this serious and punish the dealer

MR. DAVID

I could not agree with you more.....a mistake is something you do and didn't know the consequences...everybody knows when you take drugs illegally what the consequences will be....

Former Parent,
I recall the incident that happened at Bratt. I'm sure the guidance counselor at EWMS does too, as her son was not there that day either, and therefore did not take the pills that were passed around. Northescambia.com has featured 2 of the individuals that did take the pills featured on this webiste...one for a meth lab and the other for robbing a bank! Some children don't lseem to learn from their "mistakes".

Wish I knew what the punishment was back then. Seems like the child that brought the pills (4th grader) was expelled.

REGARDING:
" Mistakes are something that are suppose to be a one time thing."

Actually, a mistake is a thing which you did not intend to do.

Since they intended to take the drugs, that was not a mistake.

They did not intend to get caught but did, so that was the mistake.

People call wrong deeds mistakes because a mistake is a thing over which you have no control and therefore no guilt. It's a way of saying, "Even though I did it, I am still innocent."

David thinking a number of mistakes can be avoided

I have heard from students that attend EWMS that this has been going on for some time. The ones involved just happened to get caught this time. I'm just wondering why people are referring to this as a mistake. Mistakes are something that are suppose to be a one time thing. The parents of these students would be wise to get some kind of drug intervention program started before they graduate to the hard stuff. Please don't kid yourselves into thinking that this is a minor situation. At 15 years of age, these children are old enough to know about the dangers of drug use and yet they still chose to use them. And another thing, I'm sure there will be action taken by the school, such as suspensions, because this is just as serious an offense as fighting, which will get between 3-10 days and also a warrant issued for arrest, well for (some)students anyway. I'm sure bringing controlled substances on school property is a criminal offense.
