i am so happy that none of my fellow students were hurt very bad by the burst ,also one of the injured students were very dear to me and i will pray for the bus driver and all of the injured students for there recovery.

The same fluid which cools the engine flows into the inside of the bus to run the heaters and defrosters. There are valves which can shut off flow into the bus in warmer weather but you still need it to defog the windows when it gets too humid.

I don’t know the specifics since she wasn’t back on her bus this afternoon to grill. (bad when you’ve already been boiled and someone wants to grill you)

I think the safety of our kids is of the most importance possible and to design a vehicle that could potentially spray antifreeze on them is irresponsible and negligent. It doesn’t matter how many times it’s inspected, making sure that it is in good repair doesn’t negate the fact that it is designed so that in case of failure of this hose, ANTIFREEZE WILL SPRAY INTO THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT SPRAYING OUR CHILDREN AND THEIR DRIVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have owned many vehicles and I’ve had a few heater hoses to burst. What I have never had is antifreeze spraying into the passenger compartment. Why would any vehicle be designed so that something like this could happen? It just doesn’t make any sense to me.
Thank God the driver and kids are ok.

I don’t have a clue about school busses. I too wonder about the fire wall on the bus, was the hose in the engine compartment or was the hose inside the school bus under the dash?

I’ve seen some burns from busted hoses and caps removed under pressure. They can be bad. Hope none os these were serious.

In most vehicles, the radiator coolant circulates through a “heater hose” that runs from the engine to a “heater core” in the passenger compartment. It sounds as if one of these “heater hoses” burst and sprayed hot engine coolant into the passenger compartment.
