AL- did you read the post if you had you would have seen where I said don't leave the dog out there and forget about it. People in this county want the government to make all there decisions for them so dont be surprised when they tell you when you can pee and poop, and then say im sick of government you cant control the world or the people in it. Did you know in this county you are suppose to pull a permit to replace your own exterior door? We need to get a grip on our own personal responsibilities and quit asking government to do it for us.

It's a shame there have to be laws to try to make people do what they should do anyway.

Animal Cruelty is not the same as Child Abuse.

Animal means every living dumb creature as defined in the ordinance.

That is the problem with most of these laws.....we can't get our priorities right.
And yes I own three properly kept dogs.

d- hopefully that is where the good rescue people come in instead of the power-hungry. If I see a dog on an 80ft cable run with shelter, food and water - and teh owner has removed tangle potential (ie not tied to a tree, etc) then I don't have a problem with the dog being there while the owner is at work. 24hrs a day? wrong wrong wrong.

You know I was given a dog once than kept escaping a cementt bottom dog kennel, I put her in the yard with the rest of my dogs of which I have a hot wire around the top and bottom of thier 2 acre fenced area, this dog would go right over the hotwire, and run all over so we put her in a cement bottom 12 x 12 kennel she ate through the chain link believe it or not. I ended up having to put her on an 80 foot suspended cable tether and that still didnt stop her, she kept chewing the cable so I was always splicing it, I finally Had to give her to someone who live in blackwater so I wouldnt have to worry about her getting hit bt a car and he just lets her run free on 300 acres, sometimes a tether is neccesary (I dont like chaining a dog) but don't put them out there and forget about them.

Bottom Line....If you cant afford or choose not to provide adequate shelter and conditions for a dog you shouldnt own one. Chaining a dog up does not count as adequate shelter and conditons you should at least have a kennel vs a chain.

I am totally for this.... I am just concerned on how and who will do the enforcing. Most rescue groups are amazing, compassionate, generous people.... and others are power-hungry trouble makers.
Here's hoping however it goes, it works best for the animals.

To me, animal cruelty is about the same as child abuse. I would never tether my child, therefore I would never tether my dogs. A responsible pet owner is one who can provide for their pets, the same as they can provide for their children. If you can't afford to have kids, you can't afford a pet. Vet bills and pet food costs are outrageous these days..take all of this into consideration before deciding to own a pet ..and PLEASE DO NOT TETHER YOUR PET !!
