Stop with the comparisons. It’s really getting annoying. A crime was commited (a really stupid crime in which he will be prosecuted). But I’ve read news of crime occuring in Jay over the years just as I have Century. Each town has it’s issues that have to be resolved. I personally don’t live in south Central LA (and I don’t have a criminal background). Just as in every city/town across the country we have people who make stupid decisions. But I’m really tired of hearing about Jay. It was about ya’ll last week. Time to move on. Ok. Thanks.

I don’t live in Jay, but I have family there. Jay has always been relatively crime-free. I’ve heard of few, if any, robberies, rapes, burglaries, homicides (until this past weekend), or other serious crimes. Of course drugs are everywhere and I’m sure Jay has it’s share. Jay disbanded it’s one-man police department years ago and it is rare to see a sheriff’s deputy when you pass through there. None are needed. The people there usually stay to themselves for the most part, You rarely hear of people from Jay coming to your town and starting trouble. There may be a lot of “rednecks” that live there, but most are quiet hardworking people, many who farm for a living. Century, on the other hand, is one of the most crime-laden towns of it’s size anywhere. Just a quick glance over the headlines here on northescambia.com will prove that. Not sure what the difference is, but two towns of similar size, a few miles from one another. One is like Mayberry and the other is like South Central LA.
