Having served over 28 years myself, the Admiral would not have removed him from command without good cause. The Armed Forces do a pretty good job policing themselves with the UCMJ and of course the civilian police get involved if there is criminal action. Examples that will cause this to happen are sexual harassment charges. Who knows why but likely a career ender.

I agree. The Navy should not release the word “inquiry” in the announcement, unless he is charged with something. Why not just say that there will be a change of command, which may be temporary?

No idea what the reason was? I guess if there is no official statement, then it is not good to even allude to something in the story?
