They are family oriented and prepare children academically for entering kindergarten. Early Head Start is an early intervention program for children ages birth - three years of age. It is based on the premise of providing early intervention for children who are from low income families primarily and may not receive the educational opportunties at home that they would in the program. It is income and needs based. It is family oriented also and serves pregnant teens. Volunteer work is highly encouraged in the EHS program. There is a website that explains all of this in more detail. Santa Rosa County has had Early Head Start for 9 years. It is based at TR Jackson Pre-K School in Bagdad.
