I have a petition in place at Scott's Pharmacy to have a traffic light installed at the intersection of US 29 and Molino Road SR 182. Please either stop by to sign the petition, or you can sign it online at:

http://www.gopetition.com/online/32294.html

Online, you fill out the information yourself, and at Scott's Pharmacy, you just sign the petition and it is optional to give your e-mail address, address, or phone number. Please don't sign both of them. We are at the top of the list with DOT for something to be done at this intersection. I have been in touch with them for a couple of weeks now. Please pass the word, I will also be putting one at Fran's diner, with her permission. Eager to sign here you go, it's online and at Scott's Pharmacy in Molino, as there was another wreck there today. That is 3 wrecks in less than 3 weeks. Please take time to sign online or at Scott's Pharmacy. I appreciate all signatures, as something needs to be done about this as soon as possible, before more people are killed, crippled for life, and spend weeks recovering in the hospital. It is time for a change in Molino, people fly through Molino going 80 miles an hour in a 55 mile an hour zone. This will change things, but we need many signatures. Thanks for taking your time to sign.

Since Hwy 29 in Molino is a federal highway maintained by the state. I would suggest the best chance of getting anything done would be to contact State Representative Greg Evers, State Senator Durell Peaden and U.S. Congressman Jeff Miller. These are the people that Kevin White would have to go to, to get anything done, since each of these men have some degree of control over every penny that DOT gets, they will be willing to listen to them more than anyone else. Why not contact them yourself, since they will be contacting you in a few months asking for a vote.

I am the closest dwelling at this intersection. I live on the West side of 29. First off, there have been 2 wrecks at this intersection in the last 2 weeks. Secondly, I have begged to have the speed limit decreased prior to Chestnut Road, as they have many accidents there also. We need a 45 mph speed limit from 29 to Chestnut, and we need a light. I will get a petition started probably won't do any good, as this is a state road. I would like you all to not particulary blame Deborah, she has cancer. I don't know if she can wear a seatbelt or not. Let's all pray for her, as she really needs it now. We need some help here Mr. Kevin White, you know you can do something about this. I have seen numberous elderly people cross into the median, and just sit there, as they are scared to pull out. We need a light and we need the speed limit decreased...PERIOD on the West side. The speed limit is 45 on the East side, but not the West side. I have grandchildren and dogs, and people speed by my home, knowing they can't stop when they reach 29 heading east. Most of them have it floored when they turn off of 29 heading west. It is a racetrack here now that the road has been repaved. I have offered to let State Troopers and LEO's sit in my drive, they can make a lot of money off tickets, as I was almost hit, turning into my driveway, not long ago, a truck decided to pass me, my blinker was on to turn left, as I was about to turn, he floored it, and I saw him in my side view mirror, and didn't turn, or I would have been T-Boned. I will see if Scott's will let me put a petition there, for all to sign, it would save a lot of lives and the heartache families go through, when their loved ones are in ICU for weeks and even months recovering. Again, everyone pray for Deborah, I am, and will continue to do so. She needs a lot of prayer.....

Years ago I bugged the Transportation Department to not post the speed of 65 through Molino as they were going to do. I live on 29. At that time my daughter was getting on the school bus then. I told them we (parents) might as well be putting our kids on the buses on the interstate because if they posted 65 these people would not be able to stop in time to see the flashing red lights on a school bus. Our driveway is just beyond a hill (as we call it) and too many people coming over it would just speed by the bus as my daughter would be getting on it. Then the News Journal got involved and interview myself and a friend of mine who also lived on 29 with the same problem. So to make a long story short, the Transportation Department thought it over and then posted the 55 speed limit and put up a bus sign right before my driveway so people would be more cautious. I still see people not even slowing down when the speed limit changes from 65 to 55 entering Molino. I have seen so many near misses at the intersection at Molino Rd and 29. I know how hard it was for me to get them to NOT post a 65 speed limit through Molino and I hope that it won't be as hard for all that want a traffic light in this intersection. You have to keep on them eveyday. Its best to talk to the Transportation Engineers. At least they listened. Call them everyday and complain as much as you can. But I've been told that putting a Signal light there would make too much congestion on Molino Rd.
I wander how much the Molino Fire Department has getting on 29 when they have a call.. Good Luck

If people not stopping for stop signs cause the accidents, what makes you think they will stop for a red light?

Please note there is a caution light at this intersection, not just a stop sign. I don';t remember what year the light was put in but it doesn't seem to help. There are several accidents there about every year. I don't know if a full traffic light would help or not. Might slow down traffic a little bit.. The caution light certainly doesn't.

REGARDING:
"The State can put a stoplight in Cantonement so the trucks can get out on 29 and not have to wait at the mill. It is about time they put one at this intersection to try and save lives and injury to the people of this end of Escambia County."

I suspect the reasoning related to the traffic light for trucks leaving the paper mill involved the fact that pulpwood trucks were pulling out anyway and drivers weren't always noticing them in time to avoid hitting them. This way the only ones hitting the trucks are those too involved in their cell phone conversation or texting to notice the huge truck right in front of them and the red light above them.

David thinking driving would be safer if everybody paid attention
