The same thing goes for the rabies outbreak. If the direct vicinity was know as to where rabid animals have been found then people could take even more care. This is not to say that we shouldn't be vigilant at all times in taking care from diseases and dangers, but knowing it's even more close to home serves as a good reminder to take more precautions. I understand that the health department has to use discretion and not reveal names, but when they say "county" that takes in a large area.
