In response to Cheryl’s comment on August 3. This is what I get from the document. They’re going to limit the funds they spend inside the agency to reorganize, unless it it is necessary. No governmental agency knows how to tell us in terms that we can understand. I had to read this several times before I got it. J.P.

Agree with Taxpayer. The commissioners have their fingers in too many pies already when it comes to the north end of the county. We feel like we have taxation without representation now, but it keeps getting worse.

OK-I found information in the EAR document on the county website. RPA stands for Rural Protection Area and includes all property north of Barineau Park Road. I understand how the county wants to preserve the rural area for the farming industry, but I found comments like:
“Escambia County will limit the expenditure of public funds within the
RPA, for infrastructure improvements or extensions that would increase
the capacity of those facilities beyond that necessary to support the
densities and intensities of use established by this plan or unless such
expenditures are necessary to implement other policies of this plan.”
What does this really mean? We pay into the public fund with our taxes but the county will limit the expenditure of public funds to north escambia to limit future growth? Someone please correct me if I am interpreting this incorrectly. Perhaps we could pay lower taxes than the rest of the county because we aren’t provided urban services?

I think each property owner should be able to get a copy of restrictions, codes for his property and the area in which he/she owns property. Mailing addresses, email addresses, phone numbers and person should be posted, so property owners will have access to those persons that can make copies or post copy online for property owners to download.
I also think BUILDING CODES should be posted for any/all buildings that can/cannot be built on property in North Escambia Rural Area.

These codes are very important to Northescambia land owners. If you own acreage and it was not subdivided before (sometime in the early 90’s) you cannot divide it or do anything with it. There are tons of other restrictions as well that no one knows about until you try to sell a house or property. We were told we had to have a 100 feet easement to sell our house that was built in 1997. Don’t know how we obtained permits in 1997 or what changed between then and now. I don’t want a subdivision on every corner in NE, but the land owner should have more rights to decide what they do with their property.

Where can we access these Revisions the county wants to make to the LDC? I realize citizens can comment on the existing provisions, but I’d like to see all the items they want to change and be able to comment on those. Am I missing something here?

Let’s get with it! We all know VAG-1 and VAG-2 is a total waste. Any property owner should have the legal right to develop their property as they see fit. This new interest is for the positive!!
