I’m glad the boy is ok.This will be a learning exp. for the child. Even with all the he might have been speeding,not paying aten. I bet from now on he will be one of the safest drivers on the road.

To Mustand Dad; You are 1000% right!
To many people judge WITHOUT KNOWING the FACTS.
By the by I am glad your son is OK.
You can always get another car, but a good son is irreplaceable.
If something was to happen to my three, I would probably lose my sanity.

First of all, this is my son that was in this accident and just to let everyone know he is fine. Second of all he was not speeding down Tung Oil road he was just not familiar with the area since this was his first time down the road and it was dark. I know that is not an excuse but it is what happened and he will learn from this mistake and thank god no one was injured. For the comments about speeding, I know as well as you that if the speed he was driving was 90 mph then he probably wouldn’t be here today.

So the comments from MY2CENTS are inaccurate about speed and BarrineauParkDad about 16 yr old boy + Mustang = you have no idea what you are talking about, and just because they are driving their MOTHERS Mustang does not mean he is being any less careful. Don’t assume you know every child.

I find it interesting the comment about lack of judgement. I travel Hwy 97 on a regular basis. Tung Oil Rd. is not the that easy to see until you are right upon it.
And when you are approaching 97 from it, it will sneak up on you if you are not familar with it. But I feel that to say that this young man was irresponsible just because of what he was driving is wrong. I have seen many older drivers in their 4 door cars ( LTD’s, Impalas,Caddies and Lincoln’s) drive like the road was their personal Daytona up and down many,many roads in NW FL and SW AL. And for the record I am up and down these roads in my “MUSHOSS” my bike(Harley) and my truck. I have made mistakes on the road over the years (more years on this ol body than I like to talk about) Just as I am sure many others have to. So please don’t judge by what he is driving and equate that with lack of judgement.

I can not help but wonder how you miss a stop sign? Speed is almost always a factor in these types of accidents. I hope the scene is photographed and measurments are taken of skid marks, if there are any, so an accurate speed can be calculated. I have to say it is no suprise to see folks are still putting blame on anything and everything execpt the individual. If you are not familiar with a road (day or night) slow down! this person could have taken the life of someone actually following the traffic laws. We have seen numerous deaths on North Escambia roads over the past two years. mr. doug floyd was killed in a situation exactly like this. The young female driver said she was unfamiliar with the road and it was night time and she did not see the stop sign. so ,tell me again why tothers should suffer because of a careless driver. I would like to see young drivers get more training prior to being let loose on the road. and yes thank goodness no one was hurt.

Comments to the person about the teenager speeding, the teenager was not.

The teenager was not speeding. The teenager is not familar with the road especially at night. The stop sign is not clearly visible. I just know that this teenager was very blessed last night, and I thank the Lord that I was able to hug that teenager and hear that teenager say the Lord was certainly looking out for me tonight.

Yes, That is a very dark area at that intersection. I drive it all the time and years ago there was a night light there but it was removed so now if you are not familiar with that road you could be in trouble. People do speed on it and we all know how Hwy. 97 is so I would say the person was luckey he didn’t hit something other than a ditch.
