First off, if they are underage it is NOT the bar tenders fault. The kids parents need to know that its there kid not the bartenders kid. Blame the parents of underage drinking. Second, where the hell do you get malice out of the artical. Go back to school and learn some new vocabulary. It is all facts in the news artical. Malice is another word for hatred. Or ill intent. There is nothing ill intent on reporting the news

I am sorry but I truly feel that this is the attitude that has gotten our country into the trouble it is in. I do agree that a bartender should be held responsible if the person is underage. This person was not underage so that is a mute point. It was completely legal to serve him. It was a choice he made… not the bartender. We have to start accepting responsibility for our own actions and stop trying to look around for someone to blame. It is horrible that this happened and I know that no one expects it to end this way, but it was a choice the driver made.

I understand that bar owners have to make a living, but at what point do you not feel some what responsible for all of these people that die leaving your establishment?! This is not the first time someone has left the Grey Goose or other bars in our area that have been killed on the way home, nor will it be the last. I’ll even go a step further to say some bars are so money hungry that they allow minors to consume alcohol. Seven and a half years ago my brother left a local bar in our area on a Sunday night to never make it home. He was a passenger in the vehicle and both he and the driver were killed. And yes, my brother was a minor at the time and yes, the bar willingly and knowingly served him. When the FHP investigated the accident the waitress that served the alcohol was terminated only for the bar establishment to hire another waitress and allow her to serve minors. Every time my family and I read or hear stories like these we can’t help but to morn all over again because we know exactly what another family is going through. It’s heartbreaking! So, commenter Lane it doesn’t matter when this article would have been published it would still grieve the family’s heart. The article wasn’t written for malice and I don’t think they would interpret it that way. If they did I’m sure William would offer a heart felt apology.

I have been reading this paper for a while and have never seen any article that I would consider an act of malice. I believe that this is an unbiased news report which is the way news should be. It is unfortunate the situation, but don’t lash out at the messanger (in this case literally). That being said….. My prayers are with this family and all of the other familes that have had to endure loss lately.

I have no problem with this article. At our house, we often discuss why an accident may have happened and how to avoid deadly situations.

Why report this on the day before his funneral? Why put his family through more than they are going through? The other young men that have died in accidents in the last month were also at a North Escambia Bar right before both of those wrecks, yet it was published. This is the first time I have actually been sadden to read a ‘news’ report.
