Congratulations Ms. Brooks and Mr. Hawkins. It is good to have some elected officials with an education on the council including Mr. Riley. Running the city is a business and it is about time it begin being run as such. Sharon Scott voting for someone because they are a woman…spare me. If she would have voted the other way, (because they are black) well all would have been up in arms. Why not cast your vote for who is most qualified Ms. Scott, wouldn’t that have sounded so much more professional? The town needs to improve its image by restoring professionalism to city hall, and the council. It is about time that the town, being a business, develop policies and procedures as any business would have.. and begin to adhere to them. In doing so, the building blocks and road map are put in place to lead and direct the town to build for a better future and to assist in any problems incurred along the way. Town attendance is down at the council meetings…people need to take an interest, attend meetings and speak their opinions to make our town a better place. Just sitting back and expecting someone to go or speak out is not what its about …we must each “let it begin with me”. Sure we may not have all the answers or even any of them, but our forefathers fought for our constitutional rights and it is our duty to make use of them.

I am glad to see Ann re elceted to another term as coucil president.she has brought oreder and class to the town with her behavior and more importantly her self control overher emotions. Too bad Sharon Sott couldn’t vote for Mrs.Brooks bcause she was the best one for the job instead of voting for her because she was a woman.In politics the first thing to go needs to be worry about hurting someone’s feelings. Polital positions are just that….no touchy -feel good vibes to and from others.Look at the facts….be reasonable and do what needs to be done.
Ann is a good friend of mine…but when it comes to her doing my taxes or her political thoughts and decisions ,I want her to set aside friendship and be all about business..The town of Century will continue to move forward…we have some eagles on board now lets go duck hunting at the next election.

Way to go Ms. Scott! Ann Brooks is doing a good job keeping order and decorum at the meetings. Mr. Hawkins was just too emotional during his time. I believe he meant well but just let too many things get to him. Ms. Brooks does not seem to have that problem. It has been nice to NOT have to read about explosive endings to town council meetings.
