Cindy---

The internet connection we use at our office to post stories and for ordinary things like web surfing is Frontier DSL. Our connection was impacted by the Frontier DSL outage for a few hours Monday night, but our service was not out the entire 19+ hours. We were among the lucky ones.

During the outage, we switched to an internet connection from a cellular company. Most cellular companies offer "aircards" and the ability exists to attach some cellphones to your computer for a high speed connection. This type of connection is not usually as dependable as DSL. In your case, the cellular service from the cell company we used is less than reliable there in Davisville, especially in the area of Mike's Ag Air. We are not far from the cell company's local tower, so it works well for us on a temporary basis.

The last paragraph in the story was referring to the actual NorthEscambia.com website. The website is served from a computer/server in a data center in the northeastern part of the country with MAJOR internet connections. It's not here in our office in North Escambia. Unless there is some major meltdown of the entire internet, it would continue to work whether or not we had internet here in North Escambia. Even if the building it is in blew up, it would work again in a short period of time, because is "mirrored" on servers on the west coast and in Europe. It's fun stuff for the technically minded, and a bit hard to understand for everyone else. :)

I was one of the people affected by the outage. I live in Davisville and I want to know who NorthEscmbia's provider is. I have problems all the time and would love to switch to something faster.
